Het stationsgebied van Goes \u2013 het belangrijkste OV-knooppunt van Zeeland \u2013 staat aan de vooravond van een ingrijpende vernieuwing.<\/p>\n

Dagelijks stappen op dit station de meeste reizigers van de provincie over, waarmee het station een onmisbare rol speelt in de regionale mobiliteit. Toch schiet de huidige inrichting tekort: er is onvoldoende ruimte voor fietsen, deelmobiliteit, Kiss & Ride, en de verkeersveiligheid is niet optimaal. Daarom bundelen de gemeente Goes, provincie Zeeland, NS en ProRail hun krachten. Samen met ons is onderzocht hoe dit gebied kan uitgroeien tot een veilig, duurzaam en aantrekkelijk mobiliteitsknooppunt voor de toekomst.<\/p>\n

De plannen zijn ambitieus en zetten in op een aantrekkelijk en toekomstbestendig stationsgebied. Een groen, uitnodigend en overzichtelijk ingericht stationsplein, met volop extra ruimte voor fietsen, veilige oversteekplaatsen en een logische aansluiting tussen trein, bus en stad. Er komt ook meer ruimte voor deelmobiliteit en hoogwaardige verblijfskwaliteit.<\/p>\n

Een opvallend onderdeel van het plan is de sloop van Hotel Terminus. Hierdoor krijgt het stationsgebouw weer een prominente plek aan een groen en uitnodigend stationsplein. Dit plein sluit qua uitstraling en materiaalgebruik aan op het Terwelleplein aan de andere zijde van het station, zodat beide kanten \u00e9\u00e9n samenhangend geheel vormen. De verbinding tussen het treinstation, busstation en de binnenstad wordt logischer en gebruiksvriendelijker ingericht, met de beleving van de reiziger als uitgangspunt.<\/p>\n

Tijdens een eerste inloopavond kregen omwonenden en ondernemers de gelegenheid hun mening te geven over de plannen. De reacties waren overwegend positief en gaven waardevolle input voor de verdere uitwerking. Op 19 augustus volgt een tweede inloopavond waarin de plannen verder worden toegelicht. In het najaar neemt de gemeenteraad een definitief besluit over de herontwikkeling van het stationsgebied.<\/p>\n
