Een team van The Future Mobility Network heeft vorige week Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb bezocht in opdracht van de Wereldbank<\/a>. De missie maakte deel uit van een adviestraject voor het Saoedische Ministerie van Transport en Logistiek, met als doel het versnellen van innovatie binnen de transport- en logistieke sector van het koninkrijk. Een mooie nieuwe toevoeging aan het verbreden van onze mobiliteitshorizon na vorig jaar al China<\/a> en Brazili\u00eb<\/a> te hebben bezocht.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tijdens het intensieve bezoek sprak het team met lokale innovatieleiders, bracht het best practices<\/i> uit steden als Delft, Dubai en Shenzhen onder de aandacht, en presenteerde het op donderdag de bevindingen aan de Saoedische minister van Transport. De adviezen sloten aan bij de ambitieuze nationale ontwikkelingsstrategie Vision 2030<\/i>.<\/p>\n

We benadrukten onder meer het belang van \u2018challenge-based innovation\u2019, experimenteerruimte via zogenoemde regulatory sandboxes<\/i>, en de ontwikkeling van ge\u00efntegreerde innovatiehubs om schaalbare impact te realiseren.<\/p>\n

FMN dankt in het bijzonder Ahmed S. Alhassan, assistent-minister van Transport en Logistieke Diensten, voor de mogelijkheid om inzichten en aanbevelingen te delen.<\/p>\n

Naast het formele programma bezocht het FMN-team ook CODE HQ en Monsha\u2019at, waar we de dynamiek van de snelgroeiende Saoedische start-upscene van dichtbij meemaakten. Deze locaties weerspiegelen volgens FMN het grote potentieel van het land om uit te groeien tot een internationaal centrum voor transport- en mobiliteitsinnovatie.<\/p>\n
