Daarvoor is in het kader van het AVLM programma van de MRDH een testsysteem ontwikkeld en in juli succesvol beproefd op het terrein van de European Space Agency (ESA-Estec) in Noordwijk.<\/p>\n<p>Voor de automatische shuttle die daar rijdt is een intelligente verkeersregelinstallatie (iVRI) geplaatst, aangevuld met sensoren (camera\u2019s, Lidar en radar) die het kruispunt overzien en aankomend verkeer uit een slecht overzichtelijke zijstraat detecteren. Het systeem werkt onder supervisie van een control room op afstand. Alle dataverkeer tussen verkeerssystemen, shuttle en control room verloopt volgens de laatste Europese (ETSI) protocollen die in de praktijk beschikbaar zijn. Zo kon apparatuur van verschillende fabrikanten en leveranciers worden gecombineerd uit binnen en buitenland. Tijdens deze eerste proef is aangetoond dat de Navya shuttle automatisch en goed reageert op <em>Signal Phase and Timing<\/em> (SPAT) berichten met informatie over de lichtbeelden van de iVRI. Daarnaast is gedemonstreerd dat aankomend verkeer tijdig kan worden gedetecteerd en herkend door de wegkantsensoren en dat een operator in de control room de situatie tijdig kan overzien en kan assisteren.\u00a0 In de volgende fase zal de functionaliteit worden uitgebreid. Dan worden tests op twee locaties gecombineerd: een afgesloten terrein (Future Mobility Park in Rotterdam) en een kruispunt in de openbare ruimte van Leidschendam-Voorburg. In deze tests zal vooral worden gemeten aan de snelheid van de dataprocessing in de keten.<\/p>\n<p>De iVRI werd voor de testen uitgerust met een roadside unit (RSU) die via het lokale wifi-p protocol communiceert met de on-board unit (OBU) in de shuttle. De operator in de control room (in Utrecht) heeft informatie van camera\u2019s, iVRI en wegkantsensoren op zijn scherm om te beoordelen of de shuttle het kruispunt veilig kan oversteken. Op basis van deze informatie geeft de operator een \u2018go\u2019 signaal aan<\/p>\n<p>de steward in de shuttle of, in een later stadium, rechtstreeks aan het voertuig. Met het doorlopen van meerdere scenario\u2019s zijn verschillende netwerktechnieken ge\u00ebvalueerd en de voor- en nadelen ervan vertaald naar \u2018lessons learned\u2019. De wegkantsensoren kunnen ook worden ingezet op een kruising zonder iVRI ofwel een ongeregelde kruising.<\/p>\n<p>Het project wordt uitgevoerd door een consortium van Future Mobility Network, MAP traffic management en Spring Innovation Management. Het project is mede ondersteund door de MRDH en het CROW.
