Bermgrasvergisting\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Tot voor kort werd bermgras gezien als een lastige inputstroom voor vergisting. Er ontstond veel vervuiling en dat resulteerde in relatief lage biogasopbrengsten. Door technologische ontwikkelingen is dit veranderd. Ekwadraat ziet hier toekomst in en verwacht dat een nieuw vergistingsproject van bermgras binnen enkele jaren vijf procent van het Nederlandse aardgas kan vervangen.<\/p>\n

Bermgras is het nieuwe alternatief voor aardgas<\/h2>\n

In een consortium van het Rijk, Rijkswaterstaat, verwerkers van gras, de GasUnie en GasTerra wordt gewerkt aan het concept. Er moeten in Nederland tien tot vijftien verwerkingslocaties komen, voor in totaal zo’n drie miljoen ton gras. Een van de eerste twee zal worden gebouwd op de energiecampus in Leeuwarden. Ekwadraat gaat bij deze ontwikkeling in zowel de investering als kennis een grote rol spelen\u00a0<\/p>\n

Oprichter van Ekwadraat, Douwe Faber was hiervoor te gast in de radiouitzending<\/a> bij Omrop Fryslan en vertelde over de ambitie en de potentie van bermgras als vervanger voor aardgas. “Onderzoek heeft verder nog uitgewezen dat het restproduct van de vergisting voor negentig procent overeenkomt met veen. Momenteel wordt veen nog altijd afgegraven als grondstof voor potgrond. Dat zou niet meer nodig zijn als dit restproduct van de vergisting wordt gebruikt. Zo werkt dit duurzaamheidsproject meerdere kanten op”<\/p>\n

Ekwadraat heeft op het gebied van bermgrasvergisting al eerder een project uitgevoerd voor de Business Unit Natuurlijk Kapitaal (Bunk) van Rijkswaterstaat.\u00a0<\/p>\n
