De Gaarshof is een terrein in gebruik door stichting SMO, deze stichting biedt woonruimte, begeleiding en zorg aan zij die dat goed kunnen gebruiken. De begeleiding en\/of zorg die SMO haar cli\u00ebnten aanbiedt is in de loop van de tijd veranderd van \u201czorg verlenen\u201d naar \u201condersteunen aan de behoefte van de cli\u00ebnt\u201d. Het bestaande hoofdcomplex en de villa sluiten hier niet volledig meer bij aan. Daarnaast voldoen zij niet meer aan de wensen en eisen, die gesteld worden vanuit gebruik en technisch oogpunt. Een herontwikkeling van het terrein is daarmee wenselijk.<\/p>\n

BRO heeft in het verleden een landschappelijke analyse en visie opgesteld en is ook gevraagd om een ontwerp te maken voor de herinrichting van het terrein. In het nieuwe complex is er behoeft aan een gemeenschappelijke huiskamer, restaurant en keuken. Ook zal het oppervlakte van het complex afnemen met 2.400m2. Voor de villa zal na de voltooiing van het complex een andere functie worden gezocht. De dagbesteding op het terrein blijft wel bestaan in zijn huidige vorm.<\/p>\n

Een van de dragende landschappelijke structuren is de ontginningsas. Het karakter van deze as wordt in het ontwerp zoveel mogelijk hersteld door materialisatie en detaillering. Met het terugbrengen van deze ontginningsas, haaks op de Bredaseweg, wordt er een duidelijke en functionele zichtas gecre\u00eberd. Daarnaast wordt de villa (Hooghuis) door de ontginningsas ruimtelijk losgemaakt van de nieuwbouwontwikkeling, waardoor twee terreindelen ontstaan.<\/p>\n

Door de nieuwbouw samen met de bestaande kapel om de centrale binnentuin te plaatsen ontstaat de typerende u-vorm. Door de opening van de u-vorm te laten grenzen aan het open landschap, wordt de relatie met het omliggende landschap versterkt. De Kapel wordt in ere hersteld door deze los te koppelen van de voormalige bebouwing op het terrein.<\/p>\n

De positie van de gebouwen faciliteert de herintroductie van het kloosterhof. De verbinding met het verleden wordt extra aangehaald door gebruik te maken van de kenmerkende structuren en elementen van een kloosterhof. Op het terrein is er ook ruimte gereserveerd voor hemelwaterberging, het grootste deel hiervan kan worden opgevangen in een retentievijver.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
