Afgelopen jaar is het deel van het station voor de treinen in het kader van OV SAAL al uitgebreid met een transparante stationshal en een nieuwe perronoverkapping. Dit was de eerste stap in de realisatie van een totaal nieuwe stationshal. De kwaliteitssprong wordt nu doorgezet met de vernieuwing van het metro-deel van de hal en de fietsenstalling.<\/p>\n<p>Het definitief ontwerp voor deze beide onderdelen is zojuist afgerond in opdracht van MET E&amp;B en ProRail. Daarbij is aansluiting gezocht bij de nieuwe uitbreiding van de stationshal aan NS zijde, conform het masterplan voor het station dat als basis is ontwikkeld door projectarchitect Paul van der Ree van studioSK.<\/p>\n<p>In het totaalschema wordt een kwaliteitssprong gemaakt en het station zal letterlijk en figuurlijk aan uitstraling winnen, met de nieuwe transparante gevels. Het eindresultaat: een \u2018Urban Lounge\u2019 met een receptiefunctie voor grote aantallen reizigers, zowel locaal (o.a.
